April 2024 NEXUS NewsLetter!

NEXUS NEWSLETTER: APRIL 2024

NEXUS INSIGHT!

Hello NEXUS Community!

This month, we’re discussing how to eat around working out! Pre and post-workout nutrition plays crucial roles in optimizing exercise performance, supporting muscle recovery, and achieving fitness goals. Prior to a workout, it's essential to consume a balanced meal or snack containing carbohydrates for energy and protein to support muscle repair and growth. This can include lean proteins, and fruits or vegetables. It is also important to stay hydrated before exercise to help maintain performance and prevent dehydration. After a workout, the body requires nutrients to replenish glycogen stores, repair muscle tissue, and promote recovery. Consuming a combination of carbohydrates and protein within the post-workout window (typically within 30 minutes to two hours after exercise) is recommended to enhance recovery and muscle synthesis. Examples of post-workout nutrition include a protein shake or a snack/meal containing lean protein and carbohydrates. Hydration should also be a priority post-workout to replace fluids lost through sweat. By paying attention to pre and post-workout nutrition, you can optimize your exercise performance, promote muscle recovery, and support your overall fitness goals!

So grab a snack and a protein shake from the front desk and come get your sweat on!
