Hello NEXUS Community!

Many of us don’t consume nearly enough protein throughout the day as we should! The amount of protein needed to build muscle varies depending on factors such as body weight, activity level, and fitness goals. Generally, it's recommended that individuals aiming to build muscle consume around 0.5-1g of protein per pound of body weight per day. For someone engaging in intense resistance training or bodybuilding, aiming for the higher end of this range may be beneficial. Protein is essential for repairing and building muscle tissue, so ensuring an adequate intake supports muscle growth and recovery. However, it's also important to maintain a balanced diet with carbohydrates and fats to provide energy for workouts and overall health.

So eat some protein (but don’t forget those veggies!) and head to the gym for a workout! See you soon!

Join us Monday, May 27th for our annual Memorial Day Workout & Food Truck & Games!

Per tradition, we will be doing the ""MURPH"" workout, with a scaled option to do a HALF MURPH or a BABY MURPH. Depending on community participation, we will run the workout at 10:30am and possibly another one at 11:30am. Please still show up at 10am to stretch and get ready!

Lunch will go from 12-2pm with High-Grade Foods Jamaican Food Truck as our provider! We will have games in the back lot too! So, come for the whole thing, come for part, or come to eat! Everyone is welcome! 

The cost of participation is $15 as all proceeds go towards the Murph Foundation!

Meet NEXUS Vendor, Jennifer Coffey!

Jen has been a realtor in Colorado Springs for the past 20 years. She has helped so many people find their dream homes, move across states, find loan assistance, and more. She works with HomeSmart as a top agent being recognized in professionalism, customer service, and industry knowledge. She is truly a one-of-a-kind realtor with the best intentions of her clients at heart.

Jen partners with NEXUS as a master in the first-time home buyers assistance program. She supports the younger generation in wealth building through property ownership and believes everyone should be able to own a home regardless of income as she is a huge advocate for real-estate inclusion.

Every year, Jen sponsors the Memorial Day Workout & BBQ as an army wife first, realtor second, and founding member of NEXUS third.

This month’s member spotlight is Bonnie! Bonnie is an OG member of NEXUS as she has been a part of our community for over 2 years! Bonnie has competed in the 2023 & 2024 NEXUS Community Competition and has successfuly completed our 30-day Paleo Challenge! You’ll see Bonnie in the afternoon classes but she is also an early bird riser doing the 5:30am classes! What a badass!

Bonnie, It’s always wonderful seeing you in classes as you have a smile that lights up a room. Our community wouldn't be the same without you! Keep up the great work!
